~Who We Are~
Maple Acres is a registered Angus cow/calf beef operation in McGraw, NY owned by Jesse and Betsy Hicks. It operates on land that has been in the Hicks family since 1809, making Jesse the 7th generation to farm that land.
In 2009, Betsy and Jesse purchased four foundation brood cows, which have grown to the about thirty mamas that reside on the farm today, alongside their youngstock and two Percheron draft horses, Kinder & Charlie.
Maple Acres focuses on raising cattle that are docile, grow quickly and yield highly marbled beef as an end product. Our cattle are pastured grown in the summer, hand fed in the winter, and walked daily.
We offer bulls for purchase that add docility, muscle and marbling to offspring, and females that have strong maternal characteristics, grow impressive calves and over-winter with little inputs.
All our cows are treated with the utmost respect, and we value advances in technology and science to enhance how we care for, provide for, and feed our herd. We are Beef Quality Assurance Certified, practice intensive pasture management, and put up quality forage to feed our cattle during the winter months.
Our motto is "A cow can only be as good as her home", and we strive to better our farm and perfect our practices in order to ensure our cattle have a great life.
Our beef is processed through a USDA facility, and Maple Acres is New York State Grown and Certified, one of only a handful of beef farms certified as such in NYS.
